According to my interest in mild poetry, I illustrate by a traditional method. Selecting a documentary style film Le Quattro Volte, and creating a zine based on its movie trailers. The overall tone is warm and natural. I especially select double frame footage to illustrate verses, which create a quiet and peaceful entirety with delicate vitality.

In European history, the late medieval described as a mysterious, chaotic period full of difficulties, and calamities, consisting of famine, plague, and war. In this time, the word of religious authorities over personal experience and rational activity. The Black Death make a comprehensive reform of European society, cause a strong surge of unrest, magnify the weakness of human nature infinitely, and reflect the miseries of the civilians. This period is recorded by numerous artworks, such as Bosch, Geoffrey Chaucer, and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. The various aspects of the human world and life stories can be seen. I adapt stories from The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, express in a traditional linear narrative from an outsider's perspective. I express an old story in a new way, focusing on the movie The Canterbury Tales by Pier Paolo Pasolini, connecting the ancient story and the current context. In this book, I did abundant research about the lifestyle in the medieval period and the correlative artworks as a method prepared to build the story content and contextualized the reference into the current social environment.

People  in the Loneliness Watercolor

People In the Loneliness was inspirited by my experience, a sense of loneliness when I saw the giant thing. Under the big contrast between huge things and tiny things, it represents a sense of enormous, vacuous and boundless. I express this feeling through 3 zines. The first zine depicts a man on the mountaintop, and the second zine shows a man standing before the celestial body. These two zines utilize the approach of zoom-in, and people gradually turn to a small spot from feature to panoramic. Another zine shows a man in the water, displaying the relationship between a person and the world from different aspects. I also make three installations correspondingly, which can show the spatial relationship directly. In the wonder world, the fragility and uncontrollability of human can be shown concretely, and the contrast can be extended unlimitedly in the limited area.

The flipbook was inspired by the scene I saw whales swimming in the aquarium, the huge body driving a lot of water. They have a different time from humans, an uncatchable speed, and flow with tons of water. I animate it by hand drawing and fit it into a flipbook. Capturing the moment that whale opens its mouth, then the water and time flow through.

Kappa focuses on the narrative of the Kappa featured in the novel by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. The Kappa is a mythical creature, some ancient documents depict them as a water elf, worshipped as a sacred river beast. As the belief in Kappa folklore diminished depictions of the Kappa evolved to those of a monster. Many people believe kappa exists but seldom see it. My project explores Kappa as a metaphor for human society, targeted at the pollution problem, exploring the relationship between humans and the environment.
